SCHEDULE E/EMPLOYMENT INCOME
Synopsis: New limits from 1 October 2014

The national minimum wage (NMW) is the minimum amount defined by law that an employer must pay their workers. Rates are fixed from 1 October 2014 as follows:
- The adult (‘main’) rate rises from £6.31 per hour to £6.50 per hour for workers aged 21 years and over.
- The development rate increases from at £5.03 per hour to £5.13 for workers aged 18 to 20 years inclusive.
- The rate for workers under age 18 increases from £3.72 per hour to £3.79 per hour.
- The rate paid to apprentices within the first 12 months of their employment or who are under the age of 19 increases from £2.68 per hour to £2.73 per hour.
